The Buy Here Pay Here ABC's

Some people have heard of "Buy Here Pay Here" (BHPH) car lots, to others it's a completely new car world. A lot of people, especially in today's economy, are turning to BHPH dealerships because they can get easier financing, less hassle with sales people and generally just need a car or truck that will run good to get from work to home. There is a lot of confusion out there on the difference between BHPH and new car dealers so in the following post I'll try and discuss some Buy Here Pay Here basics.

What is "Buy Here Pay Here Financing"?
Getting financed at a BHPH dealership means that you are arranging a loan through the BHPH car lot. You make payments at the car lot you purchased the vehicle from. Basically it is referred to as "In-House Financing" vs getting financed at a bank  through a new car dealership.

For example, at Regal Car Sales we will set you up on a weekly or bi-weekly payment plan instead of the traditional month to month plan.

Differences Between the Regal Car Sales "Buy Here Pay Here" and Traditional New Car Dealerships
When you visit Regal, we will sit down and figure out how much you can get financed for. Once we have that figure we will then walk out to the car lot and show you the options that you qualify for. There is no pressure to put you in a vehicle you can't afford. At traditional new dealerships, you pick the car you want and get financed through a 3rd party lender. Usually you know how much you are financed for before you even step foot on the lot. Then you get pressured by the salesmen because they have quota's and other incentives that put more money in their pockets.

Another difference is that we are selling a company brand. When Regal sells a vehicle, we are not selling you a Ford or a Saturn, we are selling Regal. Therefore our vehicles go through detailed quality checks to make sure the vehicle is in good working order to sell to our customers. New car dealerships represent brands of car makers.

Which Saves More Gas? Air or Open Windows?

Have you ever driven around in the Summer heat and wondered "Do I get better gas mileage from air or opening my windows on the road"? Well after researching this it seems that both are equally responsible for drinking up gas, just not in the same way.

Studies have shown that when you drive your car with the air on, and you are only driving in town (40 mph or less), you tend to use 10% more gas than opening the windows to drive. Now it would be easy to assume that we should just leave the windows open all the time to get better gas mileage, well, not exactly.

Those same studies also showed that having your windows open driving at high speeds (45mpg or higher) creates major "Wind Drag" on your car and uses close to 20% more gas than using the A/C.

So I guess it is same to assume that in town, its best to open windows and on the highway its best to run the A/C.

After reading the study, I will definitely be trying these tips to see if it helps at all. Sometimes its the little things that we over look that can save us major $$$. In today's world, anything helps.

Regal Cars Tips - Summerize Your Vehicle

It's Summer time, how is your vehicle holding up? We all need some good tips to help us keep our cars and trucks conditioned for the remainder of Summer. I will try and cover some of the basic things we can do to make sure our vehicles are running in tip top shape. Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day stuff that we forget to take care of our vehicles. So lets start by listing some of the really basic things you can do.

1. Battery
Summer time can make your battery work hard, just like Winter. If your battery is older, 2-3 years old, you might get it checked by a service shop and ask for options. Keeping your terminals clean is very important as well. This helps make sure you have a good connection and your battery works less. Today, batteries are fairly cheap so if you are in need it might be a good idea to have it replaced because they don't give very good warning signs when they are about to die.

2. Coolant and Antifreeze
In the Summer time, your car needs a good mixture of coolant and antifreeze. Preferrably a 50:50 mix. Having the proper mix of these fluids means that your vehicle liquid can boil at a higher temperature than using pure water. In the summer heat, this is extremely important so your car doesn't overheat.

3. Belts and Hoses
Your car deals with a lot of different weather changes. As a result, your belts and rubber hoses might dry out and break. It's always a good idea to look these over to see if you can spot any tears or cracks. Taking care of this will help save you the headache later on down the road.

4. Oil Thickness
Have your oil checked. In the heat of summer your oil will run very hot and it will thin out. Your car might not be getting the proper lubrication if your oil is too thin already. In the summer heat you want to have a thicker oil for better lubrication.

These are just some of the things you can do help get your car ready for the heat of summer. We live in the Midwest so the heat is always a major factor in our cars health.

Simple Tips to Save Gas

What is gas priced at in your area? $3.40? $3.50? More? It's killing each and every one of us. Below I've listed some simple tips that can help you save money on gas usage. Lord knows we all need it!

Speeding
Oh how we all love to do it. Even 5-7 miles per hour over the limit is really costing you money that you could be keeping in your pocket. Next time you feel like punching the gas pedal, think about how much extra gas you are using... Big Saver!

Rage Drivers
I know, traffic is crazy no matter where you live. Did you know that driving crazy or aggressive is probably making you consume more gas and costing you more money at the pump? Relax, slow down and you can watch the savings pour in!

Cruise Control
Cars have cruise control to help you drive exactly at the speed you want. Tip here, USE IT! Driving at a consistent pace will most definitely stop you from using too much gas. Set it to the speed limit and you should be good.

Tire Pressure
This one is a biggie! If your tires are underinflated you could be using loads of gas and spending large amounts of money. Check your tires once or twice a month. Make sure they are right at where they need to be. Having your tires aired up to the correct level can save you some MAJOR DOUGH!

Stay Up On Your Maintenance
Your car or truck works better when you change the oil and fluids on a regular basis. If your car is older, changing the oil every 3,000 miles can considerably help your gas mileage and help you save money over the life of your vehicle.

Hopefully, you can use these simple little tips to help you save some cash at the pump. Until gas goes back down below 2 bucks a gallon, we can all use some help.

Is "Zero Down Today" Really "Zero Down"?

Ok, so it's tax time right? I know, I hate it as much as anyone. Car Dealers during this time of year love to take advantage so they offer incentives, like "DRIVE AWAY FOR ZERO DOWN!". Well if you decide to make this move, Please read the fine print! Most of these specials only work if you agree to let them do your taxes for you. Then you agree to let them take a chunk of your money and apply it to your down payment. Sure you get to drive away today for nothing down, but when that refund comes it will be either A: Nothing or B: Almost nothing. This is a shame, because that hard earned money should be yours.
